Gestion des sols contaminés

The process

We plan to market the Organo-metox process in the near future, in collaboration with the National Institute of Scientific Research (NISR) in Quebec. This process allows for the on site treatment of mixed contaminants (heavy metals and organics). This will therefore avoid the transportation and burying of these contaminated soils, which is the current method in use, since there are few other treatment alternatives presently available in Quebec.

Application

The soil is treated in the tank with a controlled, precise addition of chemical products. This results in the simultaneous formation of PAH-containing foam and soluble heavy metals. A separation of the foam and the soil is then undertaken.

Advantages

This process allows for:

      the treatment of heavy metals

      the saving of transport costs

the preservation of the environment by
       not burying contaminants

an adherence to the philosophy of
sustainable development put forth by the
       MDDEP

Achievements to date

This procedure has been throughly tested in the lab. In 2010 a demonstration will take place on the grounds of the Valcartier military base to demonstrate this on-site treatment.
